Old Belize Adventure Cultural and Historical Park

If you’re looking for a day of good old Western world entertainment in Belize, the Old Belize Museum and Cucumber Beach park is right up your alley. Located just 4 miles (6.4 km) west of Belize City, this amusement park is a nice relaxation area that makes for a great stop for visitors traveling to or from the Belize City airport or water taxi station. This charming seaside area has a museum, restaurant, and aquatic amusement park complete with an enclosed beach, water swing, and giant water slide.

Old Belize Museum

Take a walk through Belize’s fascinating and historical culture from the old world of the Maya to the coastal villages of former pirates on the quest for mahogany, to the current blend cultures that have created the mixing pot society of modern Belize. The museum contains several recreated worlds from various highlights of Belize’s history, complete with facades of buildings built to scale and model humans and props situated to make you feel like you are literally walking through Belize’s past.

Cucumber Beach

Located just outside of the museum is a little slice of paradise known as Cucumber Beach. This enclosed beach is very safe and family friendly and contains several amusement features including a 90-foot tall water slide, rope swing, water trampolines, and beach volleyball nets. As for the history of the beach, it dates back to the mid 50’s when a Florida vegetable farmer used this beach port for packaging and loading his produce for sending to the U.S.A. Don’t worry–there’s aren’t any cucumbers or vegetables in the beach today!
